Museo de El Greco in Toledo Hosts School Workshop on the Painter's Pigments
School groups will investigate the pigments behind El Greco's palette at the Museo de El Greco in Toledo during a two-day workshop on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October, running from 10:00 to 13:30. Participants will examine the paintings themselves alongside the raw materials that produced their colors, tracing which pigments were in use at the time, where they came from, how they were made, and how those substances connect to the tones visible in works held at the center. Observation of the pieces is combined with small-scale research and hands-on artistic experimentation, an approach designed to show that every color carries a history involving materials, nature, science and culture. The program is aimed at school audiences. Advance registration is required and is handled by email at actividadesculturales.mgreco@cultura.gob.es, with further details available at www.cultura.gob.es.
