Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga Examines Spanish Identity Through Andalusian Stereotypes in '¡Olé!'

From October 3, 2026, to February 21, 2027, the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga will host '¡Olé! El mito de lo español a través de Andalucía.' This exhibition, curated by Bárbara García and Alberto Gil, marks the museum's fifteenth anniversary and delves into how Andalusian customs have influenced Spanish stereotypes since the 19th century. It showcases 75 pieces by 50 artists, including renowned figures like Goya, Picasso, and the 2026 Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas recipient, Pilar Albarracín. The display also features international talents such as Sonia Delaunay and Francis Bacon. By juxtaposing 19th-century and modern perspectives, the exhibition invites attendees to reflect on the influence of art in constructing national identity myths.
