Musée National Picasso-Paris Shortlists Five Teams for €55m Sculpture Garden
A competition has been launched for five architecture and landscape teams to create a public garden at the Musée National Picasso-Paris, with the goal of establishing the "world's leading garden of Picasso sculptures" by 2030. The museum, along with Paloma Picasso, announced the shortlisted candidates on 11 September: Antoine Dufour, Lina Ghotmeh, NeM Niney, Stanton Williams, and Drubigny Architecte. An international jury will determine the winner by January. Funded by Picasso's family, the city of Paris, and the Don Quixote Foundation, this €55m project will feature approximately ten significant Picasso bronzes in a garden situated behind the museum. The foundation will also provide €60m for the garden and long-term sculpture loans, with Picasso's family eventually backing the initiative after initial hesitance regarding posthumous bronze casts.
