Musée de Valence to Present Amélie Bertrand's Neon Club

The Musée de Valence will host a solo exhibition featuring French artist Amélie Bertrand, named Neon Club. This event is part of the museum's ongoing series of solo showcases for contemporary artists, following those of Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger (2019), Philippe Favier (2021), Hervé Di Rosa (2022), and Jaume Plensa (2024). Born in 1985, Bertrand has been commissioned to present a unique project that includes recent works influenced by the museum's architecture and collections. Her paintings, known for their impeccably smooth finishes, transform idealized natural landscapes into settings that blur the lines between dream and nightmare. Bertrand’s compositions utilize interlocking planes and surfaces, creating distorted perspectives and flat horizons, with colors applied in single-layer gradients that seem to float on a screen. This exhibition, set to open in Valence, France, underscores the museum's dedication to contemporary art and its support for both emerging and established talents.
