Mulhouse Photography Biennale 2026 Explores Sedimentation and Landscape

The seventh Biennale de la Photographie de Mulhouse, titled 'Sédimentation(s)', is taking place in various locations throughout Mulhouse, France, until 5 July 2026. This festival showcases twelve exhibitions organized by six curators. Among these, Tiago Casanova presents 'Which Way the Wind Blows' at Saint-Jean Chapel, while Jenia Fridlyand's 'Limits of Control' can be seen at the Fine Arts Museum, and Pablo Castilla's 'Altiplano' is located on the Berges de l'Ill. Group exhibitions include 'Sédimentation(s) – A constellation', curated by Anne Immelé at the Fine Arts Museum, featuring contributions from the Nicéphore Niépce Museum and a site-specific installation by Eugénie Shinkle. Additionally, 'Bruissments', curated by Magali Avezou, is hosted in a 14th-floor apartment. At La Filature, 'Settled', curated by Ange-Frédéric Koffi, opened on 16 May and continues until 11 July, focusing on the underrepresented narratives of art from the Global South. Featured artists are Jennifer Douzenel, Eric Gyamfi, Otobong Nkanga, Kapwani Kiwanga, Adji Dieye, Léonard Pongo, George Mahashe, and Mahmoud Alhaj. Koffi stresses the importance of rethinking landscape and image-making approaches.
