Muda Prefab's M38 House: A 38 m² Prefabricated Home That Doubles as Its Own Showroom

Muda Prefab has completed the M38 House, a 38 m² prefabricated residence whose first unit stands inside the workshop where it was manufactured. Rather than being shipped to a client site, that inaugural unit functions as a showroom, letting visitors walk through the domestic spaces and examine the materials while surrounded by the production process itself. The project, led by architect Thiago Santana Maurelio, began with a question posed by the designers: how can construction be industrialized without architecture becoming standardized? Answering it meant treating the design of the home as inseparable from how it is fabricated, transported and assembled. Eduardo Pires Neto shares coordination duties with Maurelio. Engineering and consulting contributions came from Marcenaria João Nascimento (Modú) and Dexco, while general construction was handled by Adriano da Silva Godoi of Concept House and Francisco of FCS Empreiteira. Deca and REKA supplied products used in the build. Completion is scheduled for 2026, and Carolina Lacaz photographed the project. The house sits in Vila Leopoldina and falls under the residential architecture and houses category. Susanna Moreira curated the ArchDaily presentation.
