Mrac Occitanie Marks 20 Years With "Stop The Machine !", 475 Works by 264 Artists
The Mrac Occitanie, located in Sérignan, Hérault, marks its twentieth anniversary with the exhibition "Stop The Machine!" running from 26 September 2026 to 7 March 2027. This showcase includes 475 pieces created by 264 artists from 1968 to the present, curated by Fabrice Bousteau, who drew from three public collections in Occitanie. Clément Nouet, the director, sought to portray the institution's history as a dynamic entity. Bousteau encountered difficulties in curating a cohesive display from nearly 5,000 works, employing AI for conceptual development. The exhibition opens with a piece by Daniel Buren, focusing on themes of color and movement. Established in 1991, the venue transitioned to a museum in 2006 and gained regional status in 2010, reflecting the variety of French public collections.
