Moynat Collaborates with Kasing Lung on Leather Goods Collection Featuring Mythological Creatures
The French leather goods house Moynat has launched its second consecutive collection in collaboration with Hong Kong-born Dutch artist Kasing Lung. The collection features handbags, leather accessories, and small goods adorned with Lung's whimsical characters Labubu, Zimomo, and King Mon, drawn from Nordic folklore and mythology. Moynat's director of Image and Communication, Bertrand Le Gall, described the artist's imaginative work as radiating joy and freshness. Each piece is custom-made with production limited to approximately fifty examples, emphasizing rarity and craftsmanship. The collection was unveiled in September 2025. Moynat, founded in 1849 by Pauline Moynat, has a longstanding tradition of artistic collaboration, having previously worked with figures like painter Henri Rapin, musician Pharrell Williams, and Japanese graphic designer Kazumasa Nagai. The items are produced in Moynat's workshop on the outskirts of Paris, where meticulous attention to detail is paramount. Kasing Lung, born in 1972 in Hong Kong, is known for his 'The Monsters' trilogy and is represented by Takashi Murakami's Kaikai Kiki gallery. His popular Labubu character has been produced in over 700 variations. The artist splits his time between Hong Kong and Belgium.
