Moshekwa Langa Survey at Kunstinstituut Melly Spans 1995 to 2026
Nearly 120 works by Moshekwa Langa fill all four floors of Kunstinstituut Melly in Rotterdam for 'You Will Find Us in the Best Places,' the South African artist's most comprehensive exhibition in the Netherlands to date. Pieces made between 1995 and 2026 span drawing, collage, photography, video and installation, with everyday materials, collected objects and fragments of personal experience assembled into layered compositions that blur reality and imagination. Gabi Ngcobo and Kabelo Malatsie curated the show around recurring ideas rather than strict chronology, tracing how memories, places and unfinished narratives resurface across three decades of practice. Langa emerged during South Africa's transition from apartheid and built an internationally recognised body of work that resists fixed narratives of identity and belonging, from early appearances in international biennials to ongoing explorations of material and memory. The exhibition opens 24 October 2026 and runs until 28 March 2027.
