MOS Architects Unveils Basket-Inspired Aluminium Pavilion at Art Omi
A new pavilion named A Dome with Four Oculi, created by MOS Architects, has been erected on the Art Omi campus in Upstate New York. This egg-shaped design features a quarter-inch thick shell adorned with overlapping aluminum shingles, providing shelter. It includes two side portholes and an opening at the top, with triangular cutouts that lend it a tent-like appearance. Michael Meredith, co-founder of MOS, likened it to an "upside-down basket," drawing inspiration from traditional basketry and Airstream trailers. Designed for easy assembly using standard tools, this pavilion is part of Art Omi's fall architecture programming, which will showcase 18 pavilions from renowned studios in 2024.
