Morphosis and MVVA to Lead $185 Million Perot Museum Campus Expansion in Dallas

architecture-design · 2026-08-06

A $185 million capital campaign is financing a four-acre reimagining of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science campus in Dallas, with $135 million raised to date. Morphosis, designer of the museum's flagship building that opened in 2012, returns as design architect, while Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates serves as landscape architect. The Beck Group is architect of record, and Northern Light and Bruns handle outdoor exhibit design. Surface parking will be demolished to create green space featuring shade trees, native plantings, a pollinator habitat, and water features, aimed at improving air quality and linking the museum to the Dallas Arts District, Victory Park, and Klyde Warren Park. The exterior improvements total 60,000 square feet across interconnected zones holding 25 large-scale exhibitions and 40 learning touch points for hands-on exploration and live science demonstrations. Visitors will encounter powerful wind gusts, geysers, tornadoes, and a cloud maze. Entrance and lobby upgrades accompany improvements to educational, dining, and event spaces, plus parking garage and infrastructure work. The museum, which draws roughly one million visitors yearly, says the expansion accommodates 400,000 more annually, citing demand for science education as Texas STEM jobs grow amid corporate relocations. Groundbreaking is set for early 2027, with completion expected in late 2028.
