Moroni Architettura's RAW Studio in Sondrio Exposes Construction as Permanent Finish

Moroni Architettura has completed RAW Studio in Sondrio, Italy, a conversion of a storage room into an architecture workspace where the construction process itself becomes the final finish. Raw plaster retains visible traces of electrical routing, pipe connections, and structural scarring. Materials include stone, iron, wood, perforated concrete blocks, and welded steel mesh, all left in their industrial state or repurposed from structural function into furniture. A black diagonal geometric cut divides the raw surface from a darker shell, while a monumental antique solid wood door serves as both threshold and sculptural object. Perforated concrete blocks are stacked dry into seating and shelves. An iron table with brushed sheet metal finish acts as a manifesto object. Welded reinforcement mesh, left to oxidize, functions as a display surface for architectural models. A red radiator, colored fabric, vintage motorcycle, and timber logs introduce warmth without undermining the industrial aesthetic. The studio is located in Sondrio, Italy, completed in 2026.
