Morad Montazami to Lead 2026 Dakar Biennale with (Anti)Fragility Theme

In 2026, Morad Montazami will step into the position of artistic director for the 16th Dakar Biennale, focusing on contemporary African art. The event, titled (Anti)Fragility: Arts of Repair and Counter-Shock Strategies, will run from November 19 to December 19 in Dakar. Montazami's vision is to transform fragility into resilience by fostering community participation and collaboration. He has an impressive background as an art historian, curator, and publisher, having worked at Tate Modern in London as the 'Middle East and North Africa' curator from 2014 to 2019. He also founded Zamân Books & Curating, which emphasizes modernities in Arab, African, and Asian contexts. Recently, he co-curated The Casablanca Art School and is preparing an exhibition for the Villa Medici in Rome.
