Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel Reopens with India Mahdavi Interiors and Jacquemus Beach Pier
The Monte-Carlo Beach hotel, managed by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, has received a significant makeover featuring the work of architect and designer India Mahdavi in 2024. Her designs are visible throughout the venue, including terracotta balconies and rattan seating at the restaurant Le Deck. Notably, Provençal designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has adorned the sun loungers on the iconic beach pier with his distinctive stripes. Established in the 1920s, the hotel boasts a rich history that includes legends like Marlene Dietrich and Karl Lagerfeld, who collaborated with Helmut Newton on-site. Culinary delights range from beachside crepe stands in summer to Greek-inspired meze at Maona Monte-Carlo, alongside classic offerings at Le Deck, which overlooks an Olympic-sized pool. A new addition, La Vigie Zanoni Monte-Carlo, helmed by chef Simone Zanoni, is situated on a private peninsula with Mediterranean views. Above it lies Villa La Vigie, formerly Lagerfeld's residence, now available for guests. Zanoni, also known for Le George in Paris and La Mamounia in Marrakesh, describes La Vigie as both elegant and relaxed, with a menu that fuses French and Italian influences, featuring fresh seafood and dishes like seafood paccheri and risotto. He suggests starting with a spritz, followed by a chilled white or light rosé, and sharing plates such as figliata mozzarella and fior di latte gelato. The hotel aims to be a year-round destination.
