Monair Hyman's 'Non Dette' at Chiasso Perduto, Florence

From June 11 to 14, 2025, British artist Monair Hyman will showcase 'Non Dette' at Chiasso Perduto in Florence. This exhibition includes pieces that disrupt Renaissance artworks, questioning the notion of male genius. Hyman encourages audiences to reflect on overlooked narratives and unacknowledged contributions within historical contexts. Her exploration incorporates decorative elements from domestic life, reclaiming decoration as a significant form of resistance against cultural hierarchies. Featured works consist of voids on various materials, pearl forms representing beauty and ownership, and a reimagined tablecloth inspired by Plautilla Nelli's Last Supper. Curated by Sandra Miranda Pattin and Francesca Morozzi, the exhibition reinterprets decoration as a means of political expression, transforming absences into meaningful content.
