MoMA to Reunite Mondrian’s Final Paintings in 2027 Boogie Woogie Exhibition
In 2027, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in Manhattan will showcase Piet Mondrian’s last two artworks in the exhibition 'Mondrian Boogie Woogie' from March 21 to July 31. This display focuses on Mondrian’s final years leading up to his death in 1944, highlighting the influence of boogie woogie music and migration. The two canvases, each measuring 50 by 50 inches—Broadway Boogie Woogie (1942–43) from MoMA and Victory Boogie Woogie (1942–44) from Kunstmuseum Den Haag—are Mondrian's largest abstract creations. Since 1998, Victory Boogie Woogie has been on long-term loan. Curated by Leah Dickerman and others, the exhibition will debut at Kunstmuseum Den Haag in September 2026 and will include 30 pieces, with a performance by jazz pianist Jason Moran in the gallery.
