Mold Architects Completes M Residence on Serifos, a Decade After First Design

architecture-design · 2026-10-22

The M Residence, a cliffside home on Serifos, Greece, was initially conceptualized in 2011 and has now been constructed. Designed by Mold Architects, a female-led firm based in Athens, this residence is situated in Lia, nestled between Kithnos and Sifnos. Although it was one of the firm's early projects, it remained unbuilt until new owners decided to bring it to life over a decade later. Founder Iliana Kerestetzi remarked that revisiting the design involved reflecting on the firm's past while embracing its future. The design features generously opening rooms to courtyards, warmer materials, and subtler details. The structure, inspired by local monasteries and rural architecture, is elevated on a plinth, giving it a floating appearance, with a swimming pool positioned geometrically outside. Residents have already added white fabric beneath a roof opening to enhance light filtration.
