Modum Atelier Converts Historic Mint into Nanjing Office

Modum Atelier has completed its own office within a historic bungalow in Nanjing's National Leading Talents Pioneer Park, formerly the Jiangnan Silver Dollar Minting General Bureau from the late Qing Dynasty. The 67-square-meter interior, with a five-meter ceiling height, was divided by a structural wall that hindered spatial integration. The low-lying site also suffers from passive energy inefficiency and rainwater backup. The design team, led by Zhou Ruizhe and Yang Junbo, addressed these challenges without adding new information beyond the source. Photographs by AYstudio document the 2024 completion.
