MK Designers' Handle Table Debuts Bamboo Storage Design at Czech Design Week
Marek Kounovský from MK Designers has created the Handle Table, a bamboo coffee table with cleverly concealed storage, for Frayer, a furniture brand situated in Prague. This unique design was introduced at the 14th Czech Design Week, an international design festival held in Prague. Drawing inspiration from the Japanese concept of hodo-hodo, which promotes balance and simplicity, the table embodies the principle of 'just enough,' merging function and aesthetics without unnecessary details. Its minimalist shape emphasizes proportions and craftsmanship, while the hidden compartment keeps everyday items out of sight. The bamboo is treated with a special oil-based stain to enhance its natural look. Kounovský leads MK Designers, and Frayer is a notable young Czech company. Designboom showcased this project in their DIY section, with edits by Christina Vergopoulou.
