MJ Fraser's Trees From The Garden collection turns childhood tree impressions into biodegradable lamps.

The Trees From The Garden lamp collection, created by designer MJ Fraser, showcases distinctive lamps shaped from impressions of trees found in his childhood garden. Crafted from biodegradable thermoplastic Worbla, which incorporates 30% waste sawdust, this production method reduces waste by reusing offcuts through reheating. The heat-sensitive adhesive negates the necessity for bonding agents, while surfaces are coated with natural mineral paint. This initiative prioritizes external surface characteristics over traditional timber extraction, encapsulating textures and patterns within modular pieces. The collection features models TFTG 03, TFTG 04, TFTG 05, TFTG 06, and TFTG 10. Designboom, with edits by Christina Vergopoulou, has highlighted the connection between memory, material, and manufacturing in this project.
