Mix Architecture Leads Revitalization of 1933 Yanqing Li Lifen in Wuhan's Hankou District

architecture-design · 2026-10-12

Mix Architecture is revamping Yanqing Li, a historic site in Wuhan's Hankou district, where Shengli Street meets Eryao Xiaolu. This project kicked off in 2025 and covers 8,109 m², including seven buildings that blend Eastern and Western styles around four interconnected alleys. Originally established in 1933 by Zhong Yansheng, this complex has faced damage from wars and shifting populations. The aim is to transform it into a lively commercial hub while preserving its historical character, setting an example for revitalizing the Sanyang district. The project is spearheaded by Wu Ziye and features a diverse design team, with oversight from Wuhan Urban Investment and Chengdu Luxelakes Cultural Tourism Development.
