Mix Architecture Completes Renovation of Central Area at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (TAFA)
Mix Architecture, a firm from China, has finalized the renovation of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (TAFA) central area, a project spanning 17,894 m² that is expected to conclude in 2026. Situated to the west of the academy in a historically underappreciated urban zone, this initiative stems from a 2022 partnership between the Tianjin Hebei District Government and TAFA aimed at revitalizing the campus and its environment, resulting in the TAFA Art Block urban renewal effort. The central area is segmented by Tianwei Street into two zones: Zone A (south) and Zone B (north). Key figures in the design include architects Tang Tao and Liu Wei, alongside Lin Libin and others. The client is Tianjin Xincheng Urban Renewal Co., Ltd., with construction managed by Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd.
