MIT Museum Acquires I.M. Pei Archive, Hyundai Translocal Series Expands, and More

The MIT Museum has acquired the archive of architect I. M. Pei, donated by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. The collection includes 1,500 drawings, 50 models, and 30 linear meters of manuscripts spanning 60 projects, including the Louvre Pyramid and the East Building of the National Gallery of Art. Hyundai Motor Company announced two new partnerships under its Hyundai Translocal Series: the Ulsan Art Museum will collaborate with the New Museum, and the Seo-Seoul Museum of Art will partner with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. Fotografiska will open a second China location in Shenzhen this October, designed by AIM Architecture. The Trellis Art Fund named 12 recipients of its 2026 Milestone Grant, each receiving $100,000; grantees include TT Takemoto, Michiko Itatani, Kelly Akashi, Ei Arakawa-Nash, and Candice Lin. Ars Electronica announced Golden Nica winners: Forensic Architecture won Interactive Art+ for its project on Gaza, Andrew Herzog won New Animation Art for 'Deer Hunter', SummitShare and Shared Histories Team won Digital Humanity, and Jannis Berner won Young Professionals. Winners receive €10,000 and exhibit at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz from September 9–13.
