Misato Canoe Boathouse: Balinese-Inspired Sports Architecture for 2030 Games

STUDIO YY has completed the Misato Canoe Boathouse, a sports facility designed for the 2030 Shimane National Sports Festival. Located along the Gonokawa River in Misato Town, the 1035 m² building incorporates Balinese architectural elements. It will serve as a competition venue during the festival and as a training facility for local canoe clubs. The project is expected to become a cultural landmark and tourism asset. Lead architects are Tsuyoshi Nakamoto and Yuichi Tanaka. The boathouse was completed in 2024.
