Miriam Cahn's First Italian Retrospective at MACRO

The MACRO museum in Rome hosts the first Italian retrospective of Swiss artist Miriam Cahn, titled 'Ciò che mi guarda' (That Which Looks at Me). Curated by Margherita Artoni and Anita Romanello, the exhibition gathers over 100 works from the late 1970s to the present, including drawings, paintings, videos, and photographs. Cahn's figures confront visitors with semi-nude bodies, wide-open eyes, and chromatic fields oscillating between childishness and alarm, wound and perceptual catastrophe. The show constructs an unstable reciprocity between gaze and image, where what is seen already appears turned back, implicated. The title defines a structure of the visible as an operative statement.
