MINIMO Studio Reinterprets Contemporary Domestic Experience in Madrid's El Viso Neighborhood

MINIMO studio has completed the renovation of a 340 m² single-family home in Madrid's El Viso neighborhood, transforming a fragmented interior into a serene, luminous space. The project emphasizes spatial clarity, a reduced material palette, and custom solutions to reinterpret contemporary domestic living. Originally a working-class area with rationalist style, El Viso became one of Madrid's most privileged zones in the 1970s. The renovation adapts the home to modern habitation needs through fluid interiors that create functional, adaptable environments. Key design elements include integrated custom carpentry that structures the entire house, acting as a continuous system of cabinets, sliding panels, and storage solutions. A white-finished staircase serves as the central axis, connecting different floors without visual weight. Living areas are conceived as a single flexible space, with the kitchen integrated through pure lines and discreet furniture. Material coherence extends throughout, using wood, cement, and white surfaces with warm lighting to create a calm atmosphere. Exposed structural ceilings add rhythm and character while maintaining overall softness.
