Miller Hull Partnership's Trestle Cabin Prototype in Remote US Site

The Miller Hull Partnership has completed Trestle Cabin, a 868 ft² prototype for low-impact development on challenging remote sites, completed in 2024. Located in the United States, the design borrows from 1960s Metabolist architecture, employing a superstructure and modular language for adaptability over time. The project emphasizes long-term thinking to minimize environmental impact and remain relevant across generations. Key team members include design lead Cory Mattheis, interiors by Ida Fraser, specifications by Steve Doub, models and drawings by Sharon Fung, drawings and photography by Tobias Jimenez, sustainability by Jim Hanford, and landscape architect Kas Kinkead. Structural engineering was by Swenson Say Faget, geotechnical engineering by Stratum Group, and general contracting by Kaplan Homes Unlimited. Manufacturers include Lunawood and Marvin.
