Midtown Atlanta to Gain 4-Acre Park Designed by Field Operations and Thomas Phifer and Partners

architecture-design · 2026-04-16

A new 4-acre park named Midtown Green is set to be developed on a vacant lot situated between Peachtree and West Peachtree Streets along 14th Street in Midtown Atlanta, aiming to alleviate a deficit of public greenspace amid the construction of over 140 buildings in the past twenty years. The property, acquired by the Midtown Improvement District in March 2025, is under the management of Midtown Alliance. In November 2025, Field Operations was chosen for landscape design, partnering with Fluidity Design. A pavilion designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners will draw inspiration from Alexander Calder. The park will include terraces, pathways, and a link to Atlanta's Art Walk, along with features such as a restaurant, community building, and play areas for children, shaped by feedback from over 6,000 residents. Visitors will be welcomed by a mural from Jasmine Nicole Williams, with a capital campaign set to commence this summer.
