MID estudio and FILO arquitectos Complete Sakana-Mendialdea Forest Resources Centre in Navarra
Located in Irurtzun, Navarra, the Sakana-Mendialdea Forest Resources Centre and regional forest ranger headquarters, crafted by MID estudio and FILO arquitectos, boasts a distinctive three-slope timber roof on a truncated site. This low-rise edifice stands in stark contrast to the surrounding industrial structures, featuring a lantern at the roof's apex for illumination. The roof and lantern are clad in grey corrugated sheets, while the north and west sides are sealed with dark-green timber panels. The east and south facades showcase a rhythmic timber structure with protected entrances. Inside, there are areas for fieldwork, administration, and training. Constructed from 2024 to 2026, the building utilizes regional firewood for heating, with architects Maier Vélez, David Serrano, and Enrique Iriso involved in the project.
