Michele Poirier Mozzone's Fractured Light Series Explores Water and Emotion

Michele Poirier Mozzone is a contemporary artist who explores how light, water, and the human body interact in her artwork. She started her series, Fractured Light, in 2011, inspired by observing her daughter swim and how the water changed familiar forms. Using watercolor, pastel, and oil, she earned her BFA from Emmanuel College, graduating cum laude with a St. Vincent De Paul Art Scholarship. A Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, she also holds the Master Circle title from the International Association of Pastel Societies. Since 2013, she has been teaching at the Providence Art Club and has previously taught at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her art has been featured in exhibitions across several states and in magazines like International Artist Magazine and Pastel Journal. Her paintings often obscure faces to emphasize shared human experiences, with water symbolizing themes of memory, time, and change.
