Miami Artist Yamily Castillo Creates Textured Works Inspired by Natural Landscapes

Yamily Castillo, a contemporary artist based in Miami and founder of Atelier Viento, produces mixed-media paintings that incorporate sand, mineral compounds, and acrylic to form sculptural surfaces. Her artistic practice examines the interplay between materiality, movement, and natural environments, drawing inspiration from coastal and geological formations. In a recent interview, Castillo explained that her work is influenced by landscapes shaped by processes like erosion and accumulation, as well as her personal experiences of migration from Cuba to Italy and later the United States.
