Metal Goat's Kogani: An Origami-Inspired Smart Speaker Stand with Digital Identity

Japanese design studio Metal Goat has unveiled Kogani, a smart speaker stand shaped like a crab that merges technology with visual poetry. Inspired by origami, the stand is made from synthetic paper, acrylic, and brass, and is compatible with devices like Amazon Echo Dot and Google Nest Mini. Each Kogani is customized in color and pattern and comes with a unique, non-transferable NFT linked via QR code, giving it an uncopiable digital identity. Kogani is the first prototype in a broader series called Capsule Animals, a collection of interior accessories and furniture that combines compact geometries, animal inspirations, and smart technology compatibility. Designed for contemporary spaces and small apartments, the series aims to blend sculpture with functionality in a post-digital context.
