Megan Wilding's Game. Set. Match. Leads Belvoir's 2027 Season

Megan Wilding's highly regarded play Game. Set. Match. is set to kick off the 2027 season at Belvoir St Theatre in January, as part of a limited engagement during the Sydney Festival, co-presented with Malthouse Theatre. This marks Wilding's debut in mainstage writing and her first partnership with Malthouse. The narrative centers on the chance meeting between Josh (Rick Davies), the son of a tennis icon, and Ray (Wilding) during his mother's funeral, evolving into a gripping psychological thriller. Directed by Jessica Arthur, the production earned a four-star review from ArtsHub's Madelaine Swain, who lauded Wilding's 'beautifully sharp' writing and captivating performance. Following a tough year marked by a fire that devastated its workshop and storage in June, just prior to the opening of The Jungle and the Sea, Belvoir continues to thrive, with the production drawing full houses and concluding its Melbourne tour on 15 September. The upcoming season will feature nine mainstage productions and two late-night shows, showcasing works by Noni Hazlehurst, Daniel Keene, David Adjmi, Anthony Burgess, Jane Wagner, Sanaz Toossi, Grace Chapple, and Brian Friel, among others. Artistic Director Eamon Flack highlights the season's theme of 'generations and generation', emphasizing support for emerging talent. Subscriptions will be available starting 7 September.
