Maya Manley Completes Artpace 2026 Curatorial Residency
Maya Manley, who graduated from Clark Atlanta University and is part of the AUC Art Collective, undertook a three-week curatorial residency at Artpace in San Antonio from June 9 to June 26, 2026. Throughout her residency, she explored artist studios in Dallas, Austin, Corsicana, and McKinney, connecting with various artists such as Anne Allen, Jarrod Beck, and Ari Brielle, among others. The initiative, launched in 2022 by Marcela Guerrero and further developed by Riley Robinson and Chad M. Dawkins, seeks to improve the representation of women of color in curatorial roles. Manley characterized the experience as a "crash course in Texas contemporary art" and intends to write an essay, curate an exhibition in Atlanta, and establish an after-school arts education program. Afterward, she secured an archival internship at Faith Ringgold's Anyone Can Fly Foundation in New York City.
