Maximale Estudio transforms Madrid townhouse into light-filled open-plan home
Maximale Estudio has completed the comprehensive renovation of a 200-square-meter townhouse in Madrid, rethinking contemporary domesticity. The three-story residence near Parque de Berlín now features an open-plan ground floor where kitchen, dining, and living areas merge into a continuous landscape. A six-meter window opens the kitchen to the rear patio, blurring indoor-outdoor boundaries. The central island includes a two-meter cantilevered table. Upstairs, the master suite occupies the first floor, with additional bedrooms and bathrooms arranged for privacy. Materiality is restrained: natural oak wood, microcement floors, and Cosentino travertine in the patios. Custom furniture includes a Japanese-inspired wooden sofa and a coffee table made from leftover paving. Lighting and furnishings were selected with Espacio Betty, featuring pieces from Santa & Cole, Flos, Vincent Van Duysen for Zara Home, and artworks by Anton Aiguabella. Photographs by David Zarzoso.
