Maxim Tatarintsev's 'Caramel' Collection Blends Nostalgia with Modular Ceramic Design

Industrial designer Maxim Tatarintsev, in partnership with Svoy Design, has launched 'Caramel,' a modular ceramic collection featuring lighting fixtures and furniture. The series includes pendant, ceiling, and wall-mounted lights plus a side table or ottoman suitable for indoor and covered outdoor spaces. Inspired by childhood memories of caramel candy from the 1990s and early 2000s, the collection serves as a personal reflection on identity and a response to modern visual overload. Components are crafted from semi-porcelain using traditional casting methods and fired at around 1100°C, while the table employs an experimental composite technique for enhanced durability. The system emphasizes user customization, allowing individuals to assemble elements into personalized arrangements that balance functional needs with creative expression.
