Max de Esteban at Foto Colectania: Infrastructures of Contemporary Capitalism

Fundación Foto Colectania in Barcelona presents 'Tantas historias. Tantas preguntas', a solo exhibition of Max de Esteban (Barcelona, 1959) running until September 20, 2026. The show features over fifty photographs, videos, and installations critically examining technology, economy, and landscape transformation. Works are part of 'Estética de la Extinción: infraestructuras del capitalismo contemporáneo', an artistic research project on material and technological systems shaping society. The exhibition includes series 'White Noise' (2020), premiering in Barcelona in both audiovisual and photographic formats, exploring data networks and automated processes; '20 Red Lights' (2017), depicting anonymous technological production spaces; 'Cartografía provisional. Entrevista con mi madre' (2023), an eight-chapter video intertwining family memory with historical events; and 'Fractal Landscapes' (2022), silk-printed photographs reflecting on human-altered landscapes. The exhibition launches Foto Colectania's thematic cycle 'Ecología de las Imágenes', running through 2027, examining images' role in constructing the present amid ecological crisis, visual saturation, and technological acceleration. De Esteban has exhibited internationally across Europe, America, and Asia, and holds academic backgrounds in economics, business administration, and engineering.
