Maurizio Cattelan's Major German Show 'NIGHT' Opens at Neue Nationalgalerie
Maurizio Cattelan, born in Padua in 1960, is set to present 'NIGHT', his inaugural major solo show in Germany, at the Neue Nationalgalerie from 10 September 2026 to 7 March 2027. This exhibition coincides with the 2026 Preis der Nationalgalerie. Curated by Klaus Biesenbach and Lisa Botti, 'NIGHT' showcases significant works such as 'Him' (2001) and 'Untitled' (2003), delving into concepts of power, identity, history, memory, and faith. Cattelan characterizes night as a state of uncertainty, implying a fleeting condition. The exhibition will feature both new commissions and established works, reflecting the historical significance of the venue. The Preis der Nationalgalerie, initiated in 2000, enters a new chapter with Cattelan's display in the glass hall.
