Matteo Modica's Suspended Seat aprile Launches in 60-Piece Edition for Sublimio
Matteo Modica, the creator behind the Rome-based studio Sublimio, has designed aprile, a hanging seat that features a petal-shaped wooden component and a four-point ceiling suspension system. This concept, which originated during his university studies and evolved over ten years, captures the essence of childhood memories and the carefree spirit of spring. The seat is anchored by an elliptical stainless-steel ring, ensuring stability while providing a feeling of floating. The manufacturing process combines 3D technology with traditional Italian craftsmanship. Two distinct versions are offered: aprile nuvola, crafted from high-density wood with a matte white finish, and aprile terra, made from solid Canaletto walnut, with both limited to 30 units. Buyers can choose a date to be engraved under the seat, connecting it to their personal stories from childhood. Sublimio was established in 2009.
