Material Editors Turn Tbilisi Tire Center into Hybrid Exhibition Space

Material Editors, led by Teona Kokhodze, have completed 'Reimagine The Ride,' a 255-sqm automotive service center in Tbilisi, Georgia, for Tegeta Holding. The project reimagines a conventional tire service center as a hybrid environment integrating vehicle maintenance, retail, and brand presentation within a single architectural framework. Industrial materials such as silver-painted metal tubes, perforated steel sheets, metal grids, Plexiglass, organic glass, and leather are combined to create a layered interior referencing precision and durability. Existing industrial elements are retained and reinterpreted. Custom installations include rotating tire stands on exposed metal axles, curated wall compositions for maintenance products, suspended transparent boxes for branded merchandise, and shelving systems inspired by workshop scaffolding. Kinetic and illuminated interventions—infinity mirrors, circular lights, LED tubes, rotating mechanisms, and a red LED matrix—guide visitors through service, exhibition, and retail areas without disrupting operations. The design exposes rather than conceals workshop elements, making maintenance processes visible. Prefabricated components and modular systems allow long-term adaptability.
