MASP opens five Latin American exhibitions as part of 2025 thematic year
The Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) has unveiled five exhibitions centered around the 2025 theme 'Histórias latino-americanas' in anticipation of a significant group exhibition set for September. Featured solo artists include Damián Ortega from Mexico, Santiago Yahuarcani from Peru, Argentines La Chola Poblete and Claudia Alarcón (collaborating with Silät), along with Chile's Colectivo Acciones de Arte (CADA). Notably, Yahuarcani, La Chola Poblete, and Alarcón & Silät showcased their work at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024). The exhibitions explore themes of territory, colonial violence, and ancestral wisdom, with highlights such as Yahuarcani's 35 paintings on Uitoto cosmology and Ortega's survey featuring 35 pieces, including 'Cosmic Thing' (2002).
