Marx Et Al Debuts Patinated Brass Collection at ICFF Wanted

In May, the design studio Marx Et Al, based in Brooklyn and established by Aaron Marx alongside Christopher Howard and Leah Smit, unveiled its inaugural collection through ICFF's Wanted platform for emerging talents. This six-piece assortment includes geometric sconces, pendants, a chandelier, a coffee table, a console table, and Decorative Panel 001, predominantly crafted from patinated brass. Over the course of a year, these items were created using techniques such as laser cutting, press-brake bending, and welding. Each piece takes its name from Anthony Powell's 12-volume series "A Dance to the Music of Time." Marx, who hails from Dallas, operates from Brooklyn and fabricates at his brother's shop in Colorado, drawing inspiration from ancient Greek pottery, 18th-century ébénistes, and French art deco figures like Albert-Armand Rateau and Jean Dunand. Decorative Panel 001 reflects influences from early 20th-century dinanderie, particularly Claudius Linossier. Future projects include an intricately designed floor lamp featuring heraldic animals.
