Martí Julià corner building in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat transformed into apart-hotel by m-i-r-a

In L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain, the design studio m-i-r-a has transformed the Martí Julià corner building into a modern apart-hotel. The renovation preserves the original exposed concrete slabs and structural walls, ensuring the changes are evident. A cohesive yellow color scheme links the facades, balconies, railings, shutters, and interiors. The exterior boasts continuous balconies adorned with custom wavy metal railings and yellow shutters. A shared terrace at the rooftop is surrounded by a white parapet featuring circular openings that frame views of the city while allowing natural light and airflow. Inside, white walls, exposed concrete ceilings, timber flooring, and compact kitchens with yellow and deep green ceramic backsplashes create a harmonious environment. Bathrooms are designed with monochromatic tiles, circular mirrors, steel washbasins, and walk-in showers. Circulation spaces showcase exposed concrete paired with slender yellow steel railings. At the ground level, a yellow ceramic base and well-proportioned openings enhance the building's connection to the street.
