Marta Volontè Explores Hypnagogic States in Milan Solo Show at Gli eroici furori

exhibition · 2026-09-10

Marta Volontè's new solo exhibition, I sogni dell'Ipnagogo, opens on 16 September 2026 at Gli eroici furori arte contemporanea in Via Melzo 30, Milan, with a Wednesday evening inauguration at 18.00. Curated by Silvia Agliotti and Paola Martino, the show runs through 30 September 2026, open Tuesday to Saturday from 15.30 to 19.00. The exhibition takes as its matrix hypnagogia, the neurological and poetic liminal state between wakefulness and sleep in which images surface without reason's ability to order or reject them. Born in 1997 in Milan, Volontè holds a degree in Philosophy with a thesis on immaterialism. Her earlier research centered on the city and architecture as metaphors for human experience, producing dense, stratified canvases inhabited by urban structures. The new painterly cycle extends this inquiry into deserts, temples and portals, according to the exhibition framing. The presentation marks a continuation of her investigation into unstable territories of consciousness, translated into painting rather than theory.
