MARS Architectes Completes 2,100 m² Student Housing on Former Parking Ramp in Paris

MARS Architectes has completed the Résidence Lourmel, a 2,100 m² student housing project built on a former parking ramp and conceived as an intermediate figure between existing buildings and a central garden. Rather than forming a continuous volume, the scheme is split into four slightly offset blocks; their turns and rotations respond to constraints of distance, views and privacy while opening diagonal perspectives, improving natural light and strengthening connections to the landscape. The volumes recede gradually toward the center of the block, producing a more permeable relationship with the street, and the existing courtyard has been entirely redesigned as a landscaped space. The project team was led by Sylvain Rety, Julien Broussart and Raphaël Renard, with Mathieu Landelle on the design team. Structural engineering was handled by Batiserf, with AURIS on other engineering and consulting, META on acoustics, Bassinet Turquin on landscape architecture and THEOP on project management. Photography is by Charly Broyez and Raphaël Renard. The project is categorized as residential architecture and collective housing, dated 2025, and was curated by Nina Vuga.
