Mark Wallinger's Field Paintings and Bedford Square Film Debut in London and Northampton
Mark Wallinger showcases his latest creations in two simultaneous exhibitions: "Mark Wallinger: Circling the Square" at Paul Stolper Gallery in London, running until 24 October, and "Mark Wallinger: Field" at Arts Collective Northampton, available until 22 January 2027. These displays highlight his Field Paintings series, which draws inspiration from René Descartes's graph system, utilizing layered polyester mesh to produce moiré effects. Additionally, Wallinger's film, "The force that through the green fuse drives the flower," documents his reflections on Bedford Square's historical significance through an iPhone walk. Notable earlier works include "Race, Class, Sex" (1992) and "Ecce Homo" (1999), the latter marking the first major public statue of Jesus since the Reformation. In 1994, he owned a thoroughbred named A Real Work of Art.
