Marinella Senatore's Radical Freedom: Art as a Manifesto of Humanity

Marinella Senatore, an Italian artist born in 1977, engages marginalized communities, including prison inmates, in her participatory art. Her light sculptures, known as 'Luminarie,' were displayed at 'The Human Safety Net' in Venice and at Art Basel Unlimited, featuring the impressive 34-meter piece titled 'We Rise by Lifting Others.' Inmates from a women's prison in Florence and residents from a struggling neighborhood in Naples contributed quotes for this installation. Since 2003, Senatore has collaborated with approximately eight million individuals across more than 23 countries. She holds a PhD in art history and partners with NGOs. Future projects include two light installations in St. Moritz on August 21, 2026, and a solo exhibition at GNAMC in Rome until December 31, 2026, along with ongoing works for 'The Human Safety Net' in Venice until March 22, 2027.
