Marie Tomanova's 'Three Empty Weeks in July' at Harkawik

Harkawik is unveiling its inaugural art exhibition featuring Marie Tomanova, a New York-based artist originally from the Czech Republic. Titled 'Three Empty Weeks in July,' this showcase commenced on January 1, 2022. Tomanova presents her distinctive series of daily double-exposed instant photographs captured with a Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 camera. Many of her artworks depict the artist in curled positions, often blending into arrangements of fruits, flowers, and foliage. Influenced by notable figures such as Francesca Woodman and Nan Goldin, Tomanova’s pieces explore complex themes surrounding identity and authentic self-representation in contemporary art.
