Maria Pacheco Cibils at OpenArtCode Tokyo 2026, 52nd AJAC Exhibition

Argentine-Portuguese visual artist and designer Maria Pacheco Cibils will present two works from her cycle "Il colore dei sentimenti" at the sixth edition of OpenArtCode Tokyo, held within the 52nd AJAC Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from September 9 to 17, 2026. The opening is scheduled for September 9 at 1:00 PM. Cibils, who lives and works between Rome and Argentina, is one of 26 selected artists. Curator Francesca Barbi Marinetti describes her practice as an exploration of form through dense, vivid color, delving into ancestral and archetypal themes such as the four elements and fundamental dualities. AJAC (All Nations & Japan Artists' Cooperation), founded in 1975, promotes cross-cultural artistic exchange. OpenArtCode, an international group, has previously exhibited at venues like the Grand Palais in Paris, Auditorium Rainier III in Monaco, and OXO Gallery in London. The first OpenArtCode Tokyo took place in 2016, facilitated by Japanese artist Kensuke Shimizu, who continues to coordinate relations. The 2026 edition marks the sixth and continues the cultural exchange. Cibils has won the First Prize in Painting "Lorenzo il Magnifico" at Florence Biennale 2023 and received a Special Commendation at Florence Biennale 2025. The exhibition will be held in Exhibition Gallery 4, 2nd floor, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Ueno Park.
