María Lara's First Madrid Institutional Show at CentroCentro

In Madrid, CentroCentro is showcasing 'La lentitud de la luz,' marking the first major exhibition for Granada-born artist María Lara (b. 1940, Loja, Granada). Curated by Armando Montesinos, the display includes 40 of Lara’s paintings and drawings created over the past 25 years, highlighting her exploration of light variations. Known for her minimalist approach, Lara focuses on elements such as format, scale, color, and composition, turning delicate perceptions into visual art. Julieta de Haro describes the exhibition as 'an act of justice' for Lara, a 'secret painter' who is finally receiving the recognition she deserves. Lara, who studied fine arts in Seville and Madrid, married artist Mitsuo Miura in 1973. The exhibition is open until November 15, 2026.
